Ferragamo Updates Traditional Shoe With Attitude
When Salvatore Ferragamo needed to reboot its traditional Vara shoe model, it turned to young tastemakers and asked them to put their spin on it.
The footwear, with their signature grosgrain bow, gold hardware and midheight heel, ended up much like the original; it’s the perspective they’re worn with that has changed.
Olivia Palermo created a two-tone blue shoe for strolls by Paris, and Camilla Belle made hers in beige patent leather with a crisp white ribbon to wear with an ethereal peach-coloured garden occasion gown. Alexandra Richards went for black on black. She said she’d wear them “with tight blue or black denims, a T-shirt and my leather-based jacket.”
Positively, no stuffy skirt fits right here.
To indicate the 35-yr-outdated shoes — and their younger, flat-heel sister the christmas ferragamo shoes campaign 2014 Varina — on this new gentle, Ferragamo launched an internet mission called “L’Icona” on the model’s web site Wednesday.
Portrait photographer Claiborne Swanson Frank was the curator and art director for the venture, which includes a brief movie and still pictures of Richards, Belle, Palermo and their fashion-ahead friends, including Lily Aldridge and Elettra Weidemann. Frank, who created the ebook “American Magnificence,” often makes use of the signature of bare toes in her pictures, so it is a little bit of an inside joke.
