The ↗Love Parade will not celebrate its 20th anniversary - sad, but a good decision.
This year the Love Parade would have celebrated its 20th anniversary, in Bochum. As you probably know, the last two Love Parade in Essen 2007 and Dortmund 2008 have been really successful. They've been huge events.
Bochum is a smaller city. For a 20th anniversary you could expect even more people to come than just the 1.6 million in Dortmund last year. At the same time Deutsche Bahn is doing some "refactorings" in and around Bochum. The infrastructure would just be incapable for such a large number of visitors.
I'm sad that the Love Parade won't take place in its 20th year of existence. But I think that the decision of the organizers is correct. Better no Love Parade than a bad Love Parade.
The next two Love Parades in Duisburg and Gelsenkirchen probably will take place as planned.
And hey, did you know there might be a ↗B-Parade this year? You can go to Berlin this year, on 2009-07-11, if you want to. I will.
